Week 5 Devlog - Game Testing

This week we focused our efforts on testing the game. We set up two basic puzzles for the player to experience.
The first puzzle has a time trial:

On this map you touch the green ball to start the time trial. Follow the path shown in red and hit the grey door before 20 seconds pass. After completing the puzzle hit the small ball to unlock the next morph, bring back some tree life and go to the next level. If you fail to do the puzzle in time you can start again by touching the green ball again.

The second map had two push-block puzzles:

The first puzzle had you move the large block in front of the smaller block and jumping from those blocks up to the white barrier (You can also solve the puzzle by moving the blocks to the top). The next puzzle had you moving three coloured blocks into the coloured square. The green block was "hidden" and required you to not fall off the map restarting the puzzle. After moving each block into the correct place you can collect the next morph at the red circle. Collecting the morph also brought some grass and leaves back to life.

We submitted a form for our classmates to fill out after completing the game. We asked about 8 different things:

Camera Control: We scored, on average, a 1.5 out of 5.

Character Control: We scored, on average, a 2.4 out of 5.

Visual Appeal: We scored, on average, a 3.4 out of 5.

Puzzle Difficulty: Most players found the puzzles easy with 20% noting they were glitchy/annoying to complete.

Puzzle Satisfaction: We scored, on average, a 3.2 out of 5.

Overall Game Feel: Most players recommended a change to the camera.

Gameplay Issues: Same as above.

Improvements: Same as above.

Overall, it was a good experience and we got to see many of the problems with the game. However, due to the rushed nature of our scenes had we been aware of the poor camera control we probably could have gotten more data on different aspects of the game. The camera was so bad it probably made players miss other details of our game that could do with some polish/rework.
