Week 3 Devlog
Modelling:
The first task accomplished this week was completing the animation for the bear
As seen in the animation, there are some minor weighting problems that couldn't be resolved. Nevertheless, the animation still looks good despite these errors.
Next, we proceeded to model the wolf.
The entire process of creating the wolf for the project was a lot quicker than making the bear, since there was a lot more experience with this type of modelling now. After having modelled the wolf, it was time to rig it, hopefully with no mistakes this time.
The entire process of creating the wolf for the project was significantly quicker than making the bear, thanks to the increased experience gained from previous modeling. Once the wolf was modeled, the next step was to rig it, aiming for a smooth process without any mistakes this time.
And now to the animation:
The animation for the wolf was also a lot easier this time around, since it was basically just rinse-and-repeat, just with a smaller animal this time.
Movement:
This week my task was to improve the movement of the morphs. I faced technical difficulties all week and ended up not getting anything done. I tried multiple different packages but for some reason, they just didn't work with a basic shape like a cube. I ended up settling with a simple character controller after facing some difficulties with those packages.
I also faced problems with the character controller. The character controller collider interacts with other colliders on the same entity making the character just generally freak out when doing anything. After fixing that issue (removing non-trigger colliders) I found that going down slopes caused the player to jump, I couldn't fix that bug by the end of the week.
The next issue I encountered was changing the morphs' rotation based on the slope but doing that caused the morph to glide off the slope when going to the ground. I fixed that by changing the rotation of all the child morphs rather than the parent controller.
I didn't make much progress this week, but I plan on going to a consultation to help with the slope jumping issue.
